Now and again a pure “point the camera and press the button” moment presents itself. That’s the genesis of this picture. Maddy called my name. I turned around, and half-a-second later took this picture.

I don’t know what Maddy was thinking at the time, but a year or so later I bore witness to how Maddy thinks. That story, like this picture, is named Madeline’s Mind.
